What brings us here?

It is critical that the citizens of Wilmington and our elected representatives play a more direct role in shaping and monitoring the educational opportunities and resources afforded to students, young and old, in the city.  Active roles have been completely eroded over the past several decades.

Establishing a nonprofit Wilmington Center for Education Equity and Policy offers the promise of helping to restore the all-too-important role that citizens and elected officials should play in the education of its youth. This approach recognizes that ensuring equitable access to quality education for our students takes more than books and buildings – but also investment in our children with funding, time and collaborative efforts.

The actual functions of the Wilmington Center for Education Equity and Policy may likely fluctuate over time as conditions change and additional partners and stakeholders become engaged in the process.
